Hi, I’m Joanne Avison.

I am passionate about the New Science of Body Architecture. It distinguishes the geometry of form and consciousness in real live animated beings “like what we are”. That fascination led to pioneering the practical application of Biotensegrity, “the biology of wholeness” working to make sense of the being of humans being in motion. After my Yoga Teacher Training school (Art of Contemporary Yoga, AOCY) and the book YOGA: Fascia, Anatomy & Movement (Handspring 2015) the Anatomy Basic Course (ABC) was born…

THE HAPPY YOGINI

THE HAPPY YOGINI

This image came up in my pictures recently. It was one of the early draft sketches I did for my first presentation to Sarena Wolfaard, at Handspring Publishing, when we met in 2012 to discuss a book about Yoga and Fascia. Needless to say, the picture was only used on the inspiration layout, but can you see how much I love Quentin Blake? One of my greater art teachers (sadly not in person) - however I spent many hours pouring over his books on how to sketch and practicing like mad - I just love how he manages to capture the essence of character. I guess this is a bit my sense of the Happy Yogini!!! p.s. thank you for your faith Sarena xx
